A flexible, live-action alternative to the training video

This theatre-based workshop evolved from the original ideas of theatre director Augusto Boal. A short play or scene is usually devised with the client’s culturally specific needs in mind. It is then performed by the actors and the interactive process of working through the issues illustrated begins. This is facilitated by an EDC associate who can freeze the action, stimulate debate and invite participation.

Learning points are highlighted through discussion and new strategies explored.
Those watching can literally put words into the actor’s mouths. In this way they are able to re-route the action of the play and influence its outcome.

The Catalyst method can be used with any size training group and also at large conferences and events.
